The course of history changed when in 8 January 1935 a star was born. Elvis Aaron Presley was loved by his parents Vernon and Gladys Presley, especially after his twin brother was born stillbirth and was taken to heaven as angel. The house they lived in was built in Tupelo by Vernon together with his brother and father and it witnessed how Elvis Presley turned into the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
The most influential cultural icons of his generation
Elvis received his first guitar at the age of 11, guitar that he played for several years. As a teenager he was shy and unable to perform in public, but he recorded his first single at the age of 19 with Sun Recording Studio as a gift for his beloved mother. Things escalated very quickly and he started to record hit after hit, masterpiece after masterpiece.
He remains in our memories as an impressive musician and singer, yet film fans acknowledge his contribution in 31 movie productions, too. The soundtracks he promoted in his movies became very popular and brought him a fortune, but he soon started to encounter personal obstacles. His married life with Priscilla did not last, although they had a daughter together, Lisa Marie. He became addictive to prescription drugs, but he still managed to drive his fans crazy when he performed live on scene or when he showed up in any televised production.
Elvis Presley endured rapid fame and amazed his audience in over 1200 concerts. But his heart could not keep up with his stunning rhythm and Elvis Presley died of heart failure in 16 August 1977, when he was only 42. His body was buried on his property, Graceland, near the graves of his mother and father. Elvis Presley popularized Rock ‘n’ Roll music in America, he won countless gold and platinum albums and we will never forget that he was –and still is – the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
